I know. Things are pretty crazy right? There seems to be no end to the drama and tragedies of this world, right? You can’t help but think: what is it all for? But you know what I do when the drama of living overwhelms me? I try to change my perspective. I try to think: “I woke up today. I’ve been given another day. What a gift that is.” Then, I go out and try to make the most of the day. I don’t always succeed at it, but at least I try. I know. It’s totally cheesy. But it’s true. If you are reading this, you were just given another day. Another day in your life to tackle what was wrong and make it right. Another day to clarify your goals and go after them. Another day to try for the love again (after having been let down). Another day to hope. Another day to dream. Another day to […]

(For easy reading and digestion, I’ve structured this meditation guide in a easy-to-read question and answer format.) A Beginning Meditation Guide for Writers “What is meditation?” First of all, in order to define meditation, I have to explain that meditating is not a verb–it is a noun. It is a “being,” not a “doing.” In fact, meditation is the absence of any verb: there should be no effort involved. Meditation is […]

Writers and Their Love Stories: Part II

July 8, 2013

This post is a part of an ongoing series entitled MIP (Man In Progress). After my 25th Birthday I decided to improve three aspects of my life, my physical well-being, my romantic relationships, and my writing career. My philosophy is that a writer’s work and his life are irrevocably intertwined and in order to improve one, we inevitably have to improve the other. … Read: Writers and Their Love Stories Part I. … “Look at all those people,” I said. I am standing next to my ex (whom I will refer to from now on as “Y”) and I’m pointing at the crowd below us. We are standing on the second floor of a department store, and we’re looking out of a wall made completely of glass. Through this wall of glass, we can see clearly below us at the large group of people making their way through the outdoor shopping center. I am pointing at all those strangers passing by: […]
