Spiritual Teaching 101

Spiritual Teaching 101

April 3, 2017

Today, I would like to share with you my advice on becoming a better spiritual teacher yourself. 1. Only teach to those who “enroll in your class” If people are open to receiving help and advice from you, then be there for them. But if someone isn’t open to you, isn’t listening and doesn’t want to hear you – then it’s best to invest your energy elsewhere. 2. Be a human first – teacher second: there’s something off about a spiritual teacher who has not fully integrated their own lessons. Be honest with yourself and others about how far you have come, what you can teach and what you can’t. Giving off a “I know everything and you know nothing” vibe is off putting and egotistical. You don’t need to be a “finished product” to be a teacher – nor “perfect.” What is required is that you be human.  3. Teach others to be themselves – you are trying to […]

The Key To Always Being Courageous

The Key To Always Being Courageous

March 29, 2017

For the last seven years, we’ve spoken about courage. Courage in love, courage in life, courage in spiritual transformation. Courage in speaking up, in being ourselves, in standing up for what’s right. Courage has been an overarching theme of Courage 2 Create, and today, as part of the blogs last chapter, I’d like to review the surprising things we’ve learned about courage over the years. Courage Potential Courage is a spectrum: this means that on one end we chose fear, limitation, closing our hearts; on the other end of the courage spectrum we choose love, expansion, limtilessness, and an opening of our hearts. The more we choose love the more courageous we feel – the more courageous we become. The more we choose fear the less courageous we become. It is my firm belief that each of us has great potential to be courageous, but we need not only take giant leaps of faith in order to discover this. We […]

The Power of Words (And Writing)

The Power of Words (And Writing)

March 26, 2017

Word mastery is destiny. I mean it. Whoever you are, at whatever stage of your life, doing whatever it is you are doing, you should always practice becoming better at words. Words are expression. Words are a tool. Words are a weapon. The power to yield words effectively will take you places you never dreamed of. Words can help you be more understood, respected and seen. So few individuals are good with words. Those few have great power over you. I guarantee that. Take up your power and become a master of words. Understand grammar not as a shackle but as a a pair of wings. You believe the rules of words work against you: not so. The rules of words are actually made to liberate us – they were designed to facilitate the ease of communication. Language is here to help us understand each other – we’ve forgotten that. We’ve forgotten that because only the writers take time to […]

Your Life Is A Story

Your Life Is A Story

March 20, 2017

“I wrote my way out.” – from “Hamilton: An American Musical” I am an optimist – I am a positive person.  But this optimism and positivity was not born of external situations which were preferable or even positive to me. In fact the darkness always appeared to strike me down at every turn – especially when I was searching for hope. It is, surprisingly, the darkness that gave birth to my optimism. It is the thing that helped me survive. I am familiar with the dark aspects of reality. Dark times are more challenging than times of the light but it is in the dark where your light, your positivity is forged. We must not despair, never be afraid, never give our power away to any system or a person. We hold within us our true power and the freedoms of man have been and always will be “self-evident” and “endowed by our creator.” Humans always revolt when their basic […]

Harvest Time

Harvest Time

March 16, 2017

The Autumn of spirit has arrived. Now is the time for the harvest.  If the seeds you have planted all year were good then you will have a bounteous feast. If the seeds you planted were bad your fruit will be rotten and the autumn will be harsh on you. But those who have wasted the year in trivial pursuits have it worse: their autumn will be barren and empty and the seasons will seem meaningless to them. All three, those who plant good seeds, those who plant bad seeds, and those who plant no seeds are all learning the wisdom of the seasons. That all seasons are in communication with the seasons that came before, and you cannot escape what you have sown. Sooner or later, it catches up to you. Harvest Time Forgiveness, empathy, understanding, reconciliation are not isolated events. They are fruits that were nourished in other seasons – a winter of pain, a spring of rebirth, […]
