The Power of Slow

The Power of Slow

June 5, 2017

“Leave life alone. Let it be.” – Eckhart Tolle, “Stillness Speaks” Slow down. Pause. You think – I know – that the answer to all your problems is speeding up. Going faster. What if I told you it’s actually that belief–the belief in the power of fast–that is keeping you stuck? That its you trying to speed things up that is actually slowing you down? What if I told you that slowing yourself down will actually, paradoxically, speed things up for you? Give it a try: slow down and you will see just how many things you can get done that you couldn’t get done before–when you were trying to go fast. Meditation, Meditation, Meditation For seven years I have told you that one of the best cures for a creative block–one of the best cures for being stuck in life in general–is meditation: the act of just being, not doing; the act of being still, not busy; the act […]

You Can’t Lose Hope

You Can’t Lose Hope

May 29, 2017

For over seven years on this blog we’ve talked about the power of faith. Not the institutional frameworks of faith–the buildings, the clergy, the rules–but the spiritual lesson of faith itself. Just having faith. Believing in yourself. Trusting in yourself. Trusting in divine guidance, in divine intervention, in divine coincidences. Believing in things you cannot see, you can’t prove, things you know but you don’t know how you know, or why you know. Faith. Today I want to talk about faith and what we’ve learned about it over all these years. The Elusiveness of Hope I find hope to be a very elusive concept, I’m not sure if it is a concrete thing. I think when people speak of hope they speak of it as if it was a bucket filled with sunshine that you could take scoops from and ingest it in your belly if you ever need the “nutrient” of hope. But for me, hope isn’t as tangible. […]

An Ode To Wisdom (Or: How To Find “The Elixir of Life”)

An Ode To Wisdom (Or: How To Find “The Elixir of Life”)

May 22, 2017

For the past seven years on this blog we have spoken about the power of wisdom: the ancient and modern ideas and philosophies that were gained from real life human experience that can help us all grow spiritually and be healthier, happier, more enlightened human beings. Today I’d like us to reflect on wisdom itself, what we’ve learned over the years about its power, its importance and its healing gifts. Where To Find Wisdom I have introduced you over the years to many a wise person that have helped me grow and heal, from the dead–Henry David Thoreau, John O Donohue , Emanuel Swedenborg, Gerald G. May–to the living–Mark Nepo, Caroline Myss, Judith Orloff, Jon Kabat-Zinn and Eckhart Tolle. I’ve shared with you the wisdom of the Aztecs, the Celtics, the ancient teachings from ancient Indian and China, from  Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity to even Judaism. I’m a voracious when it comes to wisdom and indiscriminate about where I get it from. I […]

10 Signs of Spiritual Ascension

10 Signs of Spiritual Ascension

May 15, 2017

As I have said before, our earth is going through a huge consciousness shift, and since we are a part of the earth, we may be feeling profound shifts in our own lives. To help you make sense of these internal shifts, today I wanted to discuss some signs of “spiritual ascension.” What do you mean by “spiritual ascension”? Spiritual ascension is the process in which an individual goes from being an egotistical, self-centered individual to becoming an egoless, “enlightened” individual who can recognize themselves as part of the collective humanity, part of the greater consciousness. To put it in more modern terms, ascension is the process while enlightenment is the product or result of that process. What do you mean by enlightenment? I define enlightenment as the state of being in total and complete awareness of yourself as an aspect of a collective consciousness that includes the entire cosmos.  In that state, you lose a sense of personal identity […]

Stop Hesitating–Just Go!

Stop Hesitating–Just Go!

May 10, 2017

Editors note: this post was originally featured in 2014, New posts on The C2C return May 15, 2017. We often hesitate in life because we believe that all the stars have to align perfectly in order to move forward with our plans. And so we wait around… for what, life doesn’t know. Because life is often waiting for us. We don’t start to write the story we want to write because we don’t think we’re good enough to write it yet. Or we feel we are “ill-prepared” to start. Or the “timing is off.”  We don’t accept a wonderful new opportunity because it does not look exactly like the opportunity we asked for, and so the door of opportunity remains shut. (Meanwhile the window of whimsy is wide open; but if we wait too long, the window of whimsy will slam shut, too, and any opportunity we could have had will have come and gone.) We pray for assistance, assistance we […]
